When Gutenberg invented the printing press suddenly a world opened up for the boy who drove the plow. Knowledge no longer belonged to the wealthy, it belonged to the whole world.
Readers were now the common class but the creators of information continued to be primarily the rich and powerful. With the invention of the internet suddenly anyone who wanted a voice could be heard. People who normally would never write are starting to write. Young and old, rich and poor, in the largest cities and the remotest towns people are writing their stories.
