My example is the Halo franchise developed by Bungie. Halo started off as a video game. It was released in 2001 with the highly anticipated Xbox. The game was revolutionary to say the least. Having the great success that they did, they quickly started branching the franchise to many different markets. Today the main story is still being told through the game itself, but to compliment the story they also have books, graphic novels, a short series, and even a dedicated wikipage that helps fans connect all of the pieces. As the anticipated fifth installment to the series begins to gain momentum, I don’t doubt that 343 Studios will utilize social media in their efforts to reach out to the entirety of their community.
